Within the Evanesco EPOS network, consensus nodes and full nodes will have different role configurations and reward mechanisms. The following will provide a detailed introduction to the differences between consensus nodes and full nodes for the EVA community.

1. Consensus Nodes

Consensus nodes are divided into main nodes and backup nodes.

Main Nodes

Main nodes are important roles in the Evanesco network’s consensus mechanism. Under the EPOS mechanism, consensus main nodes are responsible for verifying transactions, generating new blocks, and ensuring the security and integrity of the network. The number and distribution of consensus nodes will be adjusted according to the development stage of the project.

Three stages of consensus nodes:

  • Stage One (Trial Run): Four consensus nodes are open for testing and verifying the feasibility and stability of the network.
  • Stage Two: Five consensus nodes are open to further expand the network’s capacity and improve performance.
  • Stage Three: Seven consensus nodes are open to ensure network decentralization and robustness.

Backup Nodes

Backup nodes play a supporting role in the Evanesco network, providing data backup and disaster recovery functions. The number of backup nodes will gradually increase according to the development stage of the project.

Three stages of backup nodes:

  • Stage One: Seven backup nodes are open to ensure data backup and availability.
  • Stage Two: Fifteen backup nodes are open to increase network redundancy and fault tolerance.
  • Stage Three: Twenty-one backup nodes are open to ensure high security and reliability of data.

The main task of backup nodes is to maintain data backup and network stability. They do not participate in the consensus process, but when there is a network failure or consensus node failure, backup nodes will supplement the main node network.

2. Full Nodes

Full nodes are nodes that participate in the entire blockchain network of the Evanesco network. Full nodes require a certain amount of computing resources to maintain network security and stability. They are the infrastructure for building network communication and also maintaining blockchain data. The role of full nodes mainly provides privacy network services, ledger synchronization, block propagation, and RPC communication.
